BriPower Delivers 80kW Integrated Power System Optimizing Low-Power-Factor Performance for Reactor Testing

BriPower has successfully delivered anddeployed a customized 80kW integrated turnkey power system to European Reactor manufacturer  . Engineered by paralleling four ZGX Series 20kW programmablepower supplies, the system is commissioned for single-phase AC acoustic andvibration testing of high-inductance loads.

Testing highly inductive loads presents asevere operational profile where the power factor approaches zero. The powersystem must handle high-density reactive power circulation without producingreal power, shifting the inverter bridge switching states to high-stress pointsand demanding exceptional thermal management and control loop stability.

To mitigate control loop resonance shiftscaused by heavy inductive loads, BriPower optimized the all-digital controlalgorithms of the ZGX platform. This ensures high-precision output andexcellent dynamic response across the operational range under near-zero powerfactor conditions, while effectively suppressing circulating currents among theparalleled units during single-phase AC operation.

Furthermore, to address the risk ofinductive energy kickback during an emergency-off (EPO) sequence, the systemincorporates specialized protection and energy dissipation mechanisms. Upon anEPO trigger, the system safely manages the rapid return of stored magneticenergy, protecting the internal DC-link and inverter modules from overvoltagerisks.

The successful implementation of this 80kW integrated system validates the robust control topology and reliability of theZGX series under extreme reactive power profiles.
