BriPower ESD Series High-Power DC Source-Load Integrated Systems Empower High-Standard UPS Testing, Setting a New Industry Benchmark

Issuing time:2025-12-30 10:30

October 2015 — BriPower successfully delivered six units of its ESD Series High-Power Programmable Bi-directional DC Source-Load

Integrated Systems, specifically designed for the complex testing of high-performance Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).

This delivery included four 600V-class units and two 750V-class units. Through exceptional short-term overload capabilities

and flexible series-parallel configurations, these systems provide a robust hardware foundation for verifying UPS performance

under extreme operating conditions.

Pushing Boundaries: 200% Peak Current to Meet UPS Transient Challenges

In UPS testing, the DC-side load must often simulate the intense current fluctuations of battery strings during inverter switching or startup transients.

The BriPower ESD Series has been deeply optimized to meet these specific demands:

  • Exceptional Peak Output: The system supports up to 200% of the rated current output for durations of 3–5ms. For a 400kW model, the short-term peak output can surge to 800kW, with instantaneous current reaching 3000A.

  • Millisecond Dynamic Response: The current rise time (0–90%) is less than 1ms, and the voltage regulation time (0–100% load change) is less than 1.5ms, accurately capturing the dynamic characteristics of the UPS.

  • Low Voltage-Drop Technology: Even at a high current slew rate of 1500A/ms, the system maintains voltage dips at extremely low levels, ensuring high reliability of test results.

  • Flexible Expansion: Series-Parallel Solutions for All Voltage Levels

To meet the evolving voltage and power requirements of UPS systems, the ESD Series features powerful Master-Slave parallel and series capabilities:

  • Parallel for Increased Current: Supports multi-unit paralleling, with a single system group expandable up to 2.4MW / 9000A,

easily accommodating ultra-large-scale UPS testing needs.

  • Series for Voltage Boosting (including Neutral Point): Supports series mode with a neutral point, perfectly simulating the ±DC symmetrical bus voltage environments required by UPS systems.

  • Compact Back-to-Back Layout: Utilizing an efficient cooling design with front-air intake and top-air exhaust, the units support back-to-back

side-by-side installation, significantly saving laboratory floor space.

Professional Expertise: Bi-directional Energy Regeneration and Intelligent SimulationThe ESD Series utilizes IGBT PWM all-digital control technology, featuring bi-directional energy flow:

  • Grid Regeneration: When used as an electronic load, the system can feed over 90% of the energy back to the grid, significantly reducing energy

consumption and heat dissipation pressure during testing.

  • Professional Battery Simulation (-BSS):Equipped with built-in GUI software, the system accurately simulates the charge/discharge characteristics, internal resistance models, and State of

Charge (SOC) of various lithium-ion battery packs, bringing UPS testing closer to real-world scenarios.

The successful deployment of these six ESD Series units once again confirms BriPower’s leadership in the field of high-power, high-dynamic response

DC power supplies. We remain committed to empowering the rapid development of the global new energy and power electronics industries with

professional and reliable testing solutions.
